Demonstrating the spirit of social inclusion by participating in community activity
Our two visually impaired members, Henry and Calvin joined a social inclusion activity organized by the United Labour Chi Hong Association Limited and the Working Group on Poverty Problems and Ethnic Minorities of Sham Shui Po District Council on 17 December 2016, they have visited four local employment centres, Kwun Tong Promenade and Ping Shan Heritage Trail, they have also enjoyed a delicious Pakistan curry lunch.
They joined the competition by submitting articles to share their feelings after participated the activity. Henry got the champion, while Calvin got the first runner-up of the competition. It was a very special experience to Henry, apart from visually impaired and persons with other physical disable, there were ethnic minorities and single parents, the combination was a good representation of Sham Shui Po. He thought that the activity would enhance the social inclusion by knowing each other. Calvin has around 10% residual vision, he was arranged to be a volunteer of a total blind persons, it gave a new experience to him. He felt lucky by awarded the first runner-up of the competition and he hoped to join more community activity and integrate into the society.
