MOU with PolyU School of Optometry to deepen cooperation opportunities
On August 6, 2024, The Hong Kong Society for the Blind signed an important memorandum with the School of Optometry of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This agreement aims to provide internship opportunities for students and to promote collaboration between both parties.
This collaboration will provide valuable internship experiences for students of the School of Optometry, enabling them to apply their knowledge in real-world settings and learn about the latest developments and technologies in the industry. The memorandum specifies that the internship opportunities will cover various areas, including clinical internships, research collaboration, and professional training. Furthermore, by visiting different service units of our organization, students will enhance their understanding of services for visually impaired individuals, equipping them to introduce relevant services to citizens in need and make appropriate referrals.
Furthermore, both parties will strengthen cooperation in academic research, share knowledge, and promote innovation in the field of optometry. As these collaborations unfold, both parties will hold regular meetings to evaluate the progress of the internship program and explore additional opportunities for cooperation.
The School of Optometry of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The Hong Kong Society for the Blind share a common vision. We are committed to advancing research and practices in eye protection and blindness prevention to enhance public awareness of visual health. Additionally, we aim to empower visually impaired to make good use of their residual vision and assistive aids, enabling them to overcome life’s challenges and achieve effective rehabilitation.
