Stepping Forward of Audio Description “Tracey”-The Third Film with Pre-recorded Audio Description

Following the two films with pre-recorded audio description, “Men on the Dragon” and “Distinction”, “Tracey”, the third film with pre-recorded audio description, started to show at cinemas on 22 November 2018. We are honored to invite the famous actress/voice talent, Ms So Yuk Wa, to be the audio describer.

Since the release of the first film with pre-recorded audio description in August. This year, the development of audio description continues to grow.  Up to now, there are two film distribution companies, One Cool Pictures Ltd. and Golden Scene Company Ltd., kindly collaborated with the Hong Kong Society for the Blind to produce first-run films with pre-recorded audio description.

It is happy to announce that there are two more cinemas joining to provide audio description facilities to cater for the needs of the visually impaired audience. Altogether, there are four cinemas providing audio description facilities: 1) UA Maritime; 2) UA Cine Times; The Metroplex at E-Max; and 4) MOVIE TOWN at New Town Plaza.

In order to encourage our service users to enjoy the wonder of watching the film “Tracey”, HKSB organized a film screening on 25 November at UA Maritime.  The audio description writer, Ms Belinda Kwan, shared her experience of writing the audio description script with the audience after the screening.  In the post screening sharing, the visually impaired audiences spoke highly of her scripts and Ms So Yuk Wa’s narration.  The atmosphere was joyful and the audiences were in high spirits.
