Book Launch cum Promotion of Audio Description

In collaboration with the publisher, Joint Publishing (H.K.) Co., Ltd., Information Accessibility Centre organized a public education programme at The Hong Kong Society for the Blind on 31 August, to promote our new book, “Connecting Two Worlds: Ten Years of Audio Description Development in Hong Kong”. On the day, we were honoured to have the film director of Fagara, Miss Heiward Mak, to offer live audio description demonstration. Other invited guests included Ms. Sandra Tsui, the author of the book, Mr. Peter Leung, our experienced audio description narrator, Mr. Merrick Ho, our visually impaired member and his mother.

Two More Cinemas Equipped with Audio Description Facilities

With our ongoing advocacy and the support from the cinemas, there are two more cinemas equipped with audio description facilities: K11 Art House and UA Citygate. Now, the visually impaired audiences could  have more choices of cinemas and screenings. Below are the 6 cinemas equipped with audio description facilities:

1.        UA Cine Times at Times Square, Causeway Bay
2.        K11 Art House at K11 MUSEA, Tsim Sha Tsui
3.        The Metroplex at Kowloon International Convention Centre
4.        UA Citygate at Citygate, Tung Chung
5.        UA Maritime at Maritime Square 2, Tsing Yi
6.        Movie Town at New Town Plaza, Shatin

We will continue to liaise with various cinema to support audio description, so that visually impaired audience will be able to have more choices of cinemas with related facilities in future.
