Jockey Club Yan Hong Building started to provide services
A decent, barrier-free and smart-home environment to the residents
- The seven-storey building provides 160 places to aged blind and persons with multiple disabilities
The new building “The Hong Kong Society for the Blind Jockey Club Yan Hong Building” started to provide services in June 2016. To celebrate, “The Grand Opening for The Hong Kong Society for the Blind Jockey Club Yan Hong Building” was held on 9 December 2016. The ceremony was kick-offed by a singing performance by our aged blind and persons with multiple disabilities, It was our honour to have Mrs. Carrie Lam, GBM, GBS, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Dr Eric Li, GBS, OBE, JP, Steward of The Hong Kong Jockey Club to officiate at the Ceremony. We also invited the sponsors of main floors and major facilities, and donors of The Rainbow Tree Donation Campaign to the Ceremony to witness the memorable moment.
After the ceremony, Mrs Lam, Dr Li and others guests were invited to have a visit to the building, the aged blind residents were excited when interacting with Mrs Lam. Finally, guests took photos in front of the memorial wall to record the valuable moment.
An Open Day was organized on 10 December, more than 250 participants included groups and individuals attended, all participants liked the facilities and services provided by Yan Hong Building, their encouragement was the biggest motivation to the staff.
The Grand Opening and Open Day for Jockey Club Yan Hong Building marked a perfect ending of the celebration of the 60th Anniversary of HKSB.
