After Shock - DVD with Audio Description Press Conference

The first Chinese DVD with Cantonese “Audio Description” sound track in Hong Kong was launched.

The Press Conference on launching of the first Chinese DVD “After Shock” with Cantonese audio description sound track for visually impaired audience was held by the Information Accessibility Centre of HKSB on 28 September, 2010. Dr. Chung King Fai, a respectable drama master gave an enlightening speech on promoting movie audio description; Ms. Pang Ching, the radio and TV programme hostess, shared her experience as a pioneer volunteer movie audio description narrator. She helped to record on the <After Shock> audio description sound track.

The Asia Media Group is the first movie distributor to include an audio description sound track in its <After Shock> Chinese DVD which is now on sale in the market. It became the first Chinese DVD with Cantonese audio description sound track in Hong Kong which marks the milestone of the development of adding audio description sound track on movie DVD.

HKSB started to promote movie “Audio Description” service since 2009. A total of 38 movie shows were organized and an audience of over 1,400 had enjoyed movies with audio description service. In addition, HKSB has been working hard to promote audio description to movie producers and encourage them to make audio description available on movie DVD to help visually impaired audience enjoy watching movies in the same way the sighted audience do.
